Sketchbook #03 Angels/Fallen Angels

It's been a while since my last post. Still working on some new stuff.

Been meaning to put this up a few weeks ago, was abit too lazy to do so. Another old entry in my tiny sketchbook.

I caught a glimpse of this documentary which was talking about the angels and devils. I guess wanted to draw something related to it, seeing that it was an interesting discussion. So tada, here it is...or here it was.

Sketchbook #02

The one of the left, I was on the escalator and saw this uncle, with his slick, brushed up hair, with his news paper, making his way through the crowd, rushing. I don't recall him bring coffee though. I guess I just added that bit.

The other one, I remember seeing him while I was roaming around Chinatown, somewhere in an alley in the area of Club St. and Ann Siang Hill. I assumed that he lives on the streets, seeing that he has a small tent like shelter. I think he's one of those uncles and aunties who sell salvaged antique stuff. I thought he looked interesting, thinking he was also some sort of religious man, because beside his small tent was a small shrine, with a few statues of Buddhist deities.

Sketchbook #01

I bought this little sketchbook sometime back, and not until recently that I've decided to actually draw on it. I don't know about other people, but I have that strange attitude towards drawing in these things. I end up being overly conscious, thinking if I really should draw on it or not, or my drawing might end up looking really crappy. It's really hard to explain.

Moving on. While we were heading back to the office after lunch, I saw this old, bearded street cleaner, taking his cigarette break. I though it'd be great to draw that scene, where he was just sitting down on the road side, smoking and having his afternoon coffee. So I did. I remember glancing at that scene from time to time just to force my self to recall all that detail or at the very least, the important bits of it.

I still see the old man from time to time at that same spot, having his smoke break. He did manage to trim his beard a bit..well a whole lot.

Baro't Saya (Sketch)

Something to kick start my day. I think I need to do more research (and not just Googling images) in drawing traditional Filipino dresses and such, to be able to pull off a convincing final artwork.

Sketching 11/21/12

Earlier today I was making a random doodle of some guy with a guitar, and decided to try making a more decent illustration out of it. For now, I did a quick sketch and added a rough coloring to it, to visualize how it's supppose to look like.

(Original Sketch)

(Did a more proper line art + rough color in Photoshop)

Aananth's Farewell Poster Design

Don't really know who the guy was, but I was asked by my bosses to draw and create this simple poster for one their client and long time friend. This is one of those rare occasion where I actually enjoy office work haha!

It started out like this. Made a quick sketch in my computer and made a rough layout so that they can more or less see how it's going to look like.

After that I started drawing and coloring the characters. During the process, I found out the joy of using a Wax Crayon brush in Photoshop. You just have to tweak it a bit and it's good to go. That will be my new favorite brush!

Then I rearranged everything on a final document, adjusted the colors, added textures and so on. Here's the final poster design/illustration:

That's all for now!
